Important Notice
This is a legally binding agreement. By registering for and/or participating in the Pier to Pier Challenge, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read carefully before signing (Check box and signature on event registration page)
1. Event Nature

This is a self-supported community challenge.

You are solely responsible for your own safety, pacing, navigation, food, water, and equipment.

Surfaces may be uneven, wet, or slippery. Traffic, tides, sea spray, and other natural hazards may be present. Weather conditions may change rapidly.
2. Assumption of Risk
I understand and accept that participation involves inherent risks, including but not limited to: slips, trips, falls, traffic incidents, adverse weather, fatigue, illness, and injury. I voluntarily assume all such risks.
3. Medical Fitness
I confirm that:

I am in good physical health and medically fit to participate.

I will disclose any relevant medical conditions when registering.

I will stop and seek help if I feel unwell or unsafe during the event.
4. Self-Supported Nature
I understand that:

The event takes place on open paths, trails, and public highways with no road closures, marshals, or traffic management.

I am responsible for using safe crossings, following the Highway Code and local bylaws, and exercising common sense at all times.

I will carry a charged mobile phone and provide a reachable emergency contact.
5. Liability Release
To the maximum extent permitted by law:

I release and hold harmless the organisers, volunteers, sponsors, partners, and venue owners from any and all liability for personal injury, illness, property damage, or loss arising from my participation, however caused.

I understand no personal accident, health, or medical insurance is provided by the organisers. It is my responsibility to arrange any cover I consider necessary.
6. Minors
Participants under 18 must be accompanied by, and registered by, a parent or legal guardian, who accepts full responsibility for the minor’s participation and safety.
7. Data & Privacy

Personal data (including emergency contact information) will be collected and stored securely in compliance with GDPR.

Data will be used solely for event administration and safety purposes, accessible only to the organisers.

Data will be retained for no longer than 24 months unless required for legal or safeguarding reasons.
8. Photography & Media
Event photography and video may be taken. These may be used for promotional and fundraising purposes. You will be asked to confirm your consent (opt-in or opt-out) during registration.
9. Refunds & Transfers

Entry fees are non-refundable as they constitute a charitable donation.

Entries may be transferred to another participant up to 7 days with prior written notice.
10. Code of Conduct
All participants agree to:

Be respectful to other path users and local communities.
-
Leave no litter and follow a leave-no-trace approach.
-
Respect wildlife, private property, and public rights of way.
-
Follow instructions given by organisers or officials if required for safety.
-
Accept that organisers reserve the right to remove any participant acting irresponsibly or in breach of these terms.
11. Governing Law
This waiver and all disputes arising from it shall be governed by the laws of England & Wales. The courts of England & Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
